Nathan Ake is expected to replace Cahill rather than departing skipper John Terry.

Goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois has recovered from an ankle problem while Marcos Alonso is also likely to return.

Tottenham remain without Danny Rose fore the encounter against Chelsea.

The England left-back is back in training after a knee injury but will not be involved.

Michel Vorm is also out for Mauricio Pochettino’s men meaning No.1 Hugo Lloris will make a rare appearance in the competition.
