Soon to be President of Zimbabwe, Emmerson Mnangagwa has arrived in Zimbabwe and is on his way to the State House to be briefed, a ZANU-PF official has said.

Mnangagwa will leave for Zanu PF headquarters where he is expected to meet Zanu PF’s politburo and address supporters who have been waiting since 1 pm for his arrival.

He had been expected to arrive at a military airport in Harare at around 4pm but Larry Mavhima said had landed and disembarked by 2.30pm UK time.

Mr Mnangagwa, nicknamed The Crocodile, is expected to be sworn in to the role has president on Friday, three days after Robert Mugabe relinquished his grip on power after 37 years.

The former vice president was sacked by Mr Mugabe two weeks ago, provoking a crisis that ended with the military taking power and forcing the 93-year-old dictator to resign.
