Zimbabwe President Mnangagwa returns from DRC

The President Cde Emmerson Dambudzo Mnangagwa has returned home from his two-day official visit to the Democratic Republic of Congo which was a continuation of his tour of the region to brief SADC on the events back home where a new political dispensation has taken over.

During the official visit the President managed to hold one on one talks with his counterpart President Joseph Kabila where he spoke about preparations for elections and the current thrust to rebuild the economy for Zimbabwe to catch-up after nearly two years of economic embargo.

At a dinner hosted by President Kabila for Cde Mnangagwa, the two sides spoke openly about the need to strengthen bilateral trade and cooperation so that they contribute meaningfully to intra Africa and global trade.

President Mnangagwa also spoke strongly on the need to contribute to the strengthening of SADC infrastructure and energy development projects.

The President said there business opportunities for in areas that include agriculture, mining and others as the country looks forward to having a middle class society by year 2030.

In his meeting with Zimbabweans in DRC, President Mnangagwa briefed them that Zimbabwe is reengaging the international community and recently talked to the British on the country’s debt.

The President also visited a military school that trains generals and colonels preparing them for joint operation, the College of Defence and Security Higher Learning which he hailed as a good thing for the region nurturing Africa to find solutions to solve their own problems.

He also visited the Laurent Desire Kabila mausoleum where he laid a wreath.

On his way to the airport the President also paid homage to Congolese pa- Africanist Patrice Lumumba and had a short chat with the son.

The ministers accompanying President Mnangagwa, Cde Simon Khaya Moyo, Rtd Lt. Gen. Sibusiso Moyo, Dr Joram Gumbo and Cde Oppah Muchinguri-Kashiri also met their counterparts in the DRC.
