Nelson Chamisa Mayor Angeline Kasipo has chosen to go contrary from her MDC boss, saying she recognised President Emmerson Mnangagwa’s leadership and would, accordingly, join hands with his appointees in furthering the interests of Kwekwe.

Angeline Kasipo has chosen to look beyond party politics in her bid to further the developmental interests of the gold mining city.

Opposition leader Nelson Chamisa has adamantly refused to recognise Emmerson Mnangagwa as Zimbabwe president.

He claims Emmerson Mnangagwa stole his victory in the Zimbabwe July 30 election.

His Members of Parliament has followed suit, and in one instance, they all walked out when President Mnangagwa was delivering his State of the Nation Address (SONA) in Parliament last week.

“The Minister of Local Government stays here in Kwekwe, and we are going to be working with him,” she said of Mnangagwa’s top ally July Moyo.

“It doesn’t matter which party he belongs to. What is important is that he is the minister.

“He was appointed to that position by the president to implement government policies.

It doesn’t matter the party where the President comes from. What is important is that he is the President.”

“What is important is for us to deliver services to the people regardless of our political affiliations. The moment we get to be professional, then we will not have problems,” she added

Kasipo defended the emergence Emmanuel Musara at town clerk adding that the Zanu PF loyalist got the top job on merit. Musara’s bid to run for a city constituency in the July 30 election came to nought when he lost the Zanu PF primaries.

He has since emerged as the city’s most influential employee with Kasipo saying he was on the driving seat “because he is a professional”.
