Boris Johnson’s brother Jo sensationally quit the Government tonight – and demanded a second Brexit referendum.Transport Minister Mr Johnson backed Remain in the 2016 referendum.
But in a resignation video posted on Twitter, he warned Theresa May’s withdrawal deal would leave the UK outside the EU but “wholly subject” to its rules
The Orpington MP, whose brother Boris spearheaded the Leave campaign, said: “I think it is imperative that we now go back to the people and check that they are content to proceed on this extraordinary basis.“Instead of ‘in Europe but not run by Europe’, we will be out of Europe and yet wholly subject to European rules.”He was previously a universities minister.
Mr Johnson says the hopes that existed for the “easiest deal in history” have turned out to be “delusions”.
He said the UK is on the brink of the “biggest crisis since World War II.
