Former Zimbabwe Football Association board member Felton Kamambo is the new Association President. He beat incumbent Philip Chiyangwa who has also been doubling as Cosafa President. And he is legally going to lose that position too.

For one to be Cosafa President, that person should be holding board member position in his or her respective country.

Kamambo got 35 votes and Chiyangwa got 24 votes. And rerun was due to be conducted. As the demands one to get more that 50% to be declared winner. Sensing the danger of potentially losing miserably in the rerun, the Cosafa President withdrew and Kamambo was declared President.

Meanwhile, Chiyangwa fellow comrade in the dirty Zifa works, vice President Omega Sibanda equally lost to Gift Banda. Sibanda got 22 votes and Banda 37.

The board member positions went to Sugar Chagonda,
Philimon Machana
Chamu Chiwanza and
Malandule.

The run-up to the elections were marred by total controversy as the Chiyangwa led board tried so hard to stop the duo of Kamambo and Banda from contesting. The two were both disqualified from the race of unfounded issues. The matter ended with Fifa.

Fearing sanctions Chiyangwa and boys restored the two in the race. Two days before the elections, the Anti Corruption Commission arrested the two, again it was a plan to ensure they never made it to the elections. But both did not spend a single night in the police detention.

Chamu and Machana are Chiyangwa runners and having part of the machinery to try and block Kamambo and Banda from contesting, we are yet to see how this will unfold in the board set up.

Chiyangwa and Sibanda came to lead Zifa in December of 2015 after the councilors recalled the then incumbent Cuthbert Dube and his board.
