High Court of Zimbabwe Says MDC Alliance Is Non Existent

The High Court of Zimbabwe has ruled that the MDC-T acted in accordance with the Alliance document signed by Morgan Tsvangirai when it recalled the quartet of Thabitha Khumalo, Chalton Hwende, Prosper Mutseyami and Lilian Timeous from parliament.

In a Judgement delivered by Justice Tawanda Chitapi in Harare today the applicant (Hwende) has lost the case with costs.

Justice Chitapi said the fact that a group of people have come together under a common name does not make them a legal person.

Hwende had applied before the courts seeking an interdict on the quartet’s recalling form Parliament.

The ruling further complicates the lives of legislators from the Chamisa led MDC Alliance as they have been ordered to disengage from Parliament by their party. This has seen many MPs defying the order as they attended Parliament sessions.
