Harare-First Lady Auxillia Mnangagwa was today involved in a road traffic accident after her Toyota Land Cruiser overturned on the Harare-Bindura Road more about 40 km north of Harare.
The accident occurred at around 10AM in the morning. She escaped unhurt. Eyewitnesses described the motorcade as driving aggressively and forcing vehicles off the road while speeding towards Mazowe.
In the motorcade were a Toyota Fortuner, the first lady’s Land Cruiser and four Toyota Raider vehicles.
“The vehicles were in high speed with the driver of the Fortuner ordering other motorists off the road, moments later we saw the vehicles had been involved in an accident.” Said an eyewitness.
George Charamba, the spokesman for the presidency, confirmed the accident to a local publication “I can confirm the first lady was involved in an accident on the road to Mazowe. It would appear a motorist driving towards Harare panicked on meeting the convoy and rammed into the first lady’s vehicle on the driver’s side. Her vehicle overturned but she’s fine, and so is her driver.”
