MDC secretary general, Douglas Mwonzora has today started the task of overseeing the petitions relating to the parliamentary and local government elections.

As tasked by the National Executive Council yesterday,Mwonzora said he has already started the findings in which one case showed ineligible foreigners were allowed to vote in Zimbabwe.

“This morning I start the task of overseeing the petitions relating to the Parliamentary and local government elections as directed by the National Executive yesterday. In one case ineligible foreigners were allowed to vote in Zimbabwe,” He wrote on twitter.

The MDC secretary went on to dismiss the allegations that the MDC Alliance President Nelson Chamisa was at loggerheads with him

“At no point did president@nelsonchamisa call for disciplinary action against me or anyone during yesterday’s NEC meeting. Instead he directed the party to focus on three fundamental political issues which we will shortly unpack. The Herald lying again!”

The Herald reported on Monday that there was infighting within the MDC led by Nelson Chamisa. The paper suggested that some officials within the MDC Alliance were baying for Chamisa’s blood accusing him of causing the heavy electoral defeat the party suffered in the hands of Zanu PF in the July 30 elections.
