On the 4th of July, North Korea successfully launched a ballistic missile that could hit range towards the United States. This was immediately brought to attention by South Korea and United States officials who then conducted a military type drill exercise.
US Secretary of State Rex Tillerson spoke earlier yesterday about the matter condemning North Korea for the test launch. Tillerson said that it’s “a new escalation of the threat to the United States, our allies and partners, the region and the world. Global action is required to stop a global threat…Any country that host North Korean guest workers, provides any economic or military benefits, or fails to fully implement UN Security Council resolutions is aiding and abetting a dangerous regime”.
Also calling for North Korea to lay down their weapons, Tillerson believes there should be a “denuclearization” and he will never accept the North Korea’s Nuclear Program.
On Tuesday, the Pentagon confirmed it was an Inter continental Ballistic Missile. The bomb flew almost 1, 750 miles (2, 800 kilometers) before falling into the Korean Peninsula 600 miles away from the original launch site. With that kind of power, it has the potential to reach the state of Alaska.
The Trump Administration declared a drill on the North Korean threat. Wanting to send in the US military including troops, war ships, and aircraft to the unstable region. US Ambassador (R) Nikki Haley had called for an emergency meeting of the UN Security Council, which will take place today in New York.
