Harare- Two influential members of Zimbabwe’s ruling Zanu PF have come out guns blazing against top businessmen who they accuse of running cartels that are bleeding the economy.

Addressing journalists in Harare, Godfrey Tsenengamu and Lewis Matutu said the situation in the country has gotten out of hand therefore the need to expose cartel leaders.

“Things are getting out of hand whilst we smile over it. We do not seek permission from anyone to name and shame those who are corrupt. It might be wrong to others but is it good for others especially Zimbabweans.

“We have come to a point of naming and shaming those who are corrupt and who are doing it for self-gains. We cannot arrest those youths in the streets but we need to deal with those that are funding and supporting the youths” charged Tsenengamu

He alleges that the cartels are even causing problems in the opposition with the hope that they will one day rule the country.

“Cartels are connected and they are even on the other side (opposition) and are causing problems there. They have nothing to do with political parties but they want to protect their interests”

Lewis Matutu named businessman Kudakwashe Tagwirei as the most corrupt as he was involved in fuel dealings as well as transport and retailing.

“On number is Kuda Tagwirei he is into fuel, command agriculture and he is the one dishing money in the streets, imagine someone withdrawing $500 000 cash and inject it into the informal black market. Kuda is the source of our problems, let him prove that he is innocent.

“That man is merciless and does not have a heart for the people of Zimbabwe, we have Tafadzwa Musarara and is responsible for getting mealie meal from producers then he sells it on the black market” said Matutu

Tsenengamu and Matutu said they were presenting their issues not from party position but were doing it as citizens of Zimbabwe.
