All eyes will be on President Cyril Ramaphosa as he takes to the podium to deliver his second annual State of the Nation Address on Thursday night.

Ramaphosa is expected to focus on corruption and maladministration in government, unemployment, and education.

The ANC has been under pressure to rid itself of corruption and maladministration, with some senior ANC officials implicated in the State Capture Commission of Inquiry.

The country’s youth unemployment rate is the worst globally.

In 2018, Stats SA reported that the unemployment rate for young people between the ages of 25 and 34 now stands at 52.8 percent.

It also said that more men (51.4 percent) than women were unemployed in 2018 compared to 2008.
